Choosing the Best Hot Tub Sanitizer

This is one of the most common questions we get asked. "How do I choose a sanitizer for my home hot tub?" Well, hot tubs have changed a lot over the past few decades. Let's consider the options for keeping safe and sanitized.

The easiest and most popular way to sanitize a hot tub is with a floating dispenser. Simply put tablets into the dispenser and leave it in the hot tub. The dispenser will gradually distribute sanitizer into the water throughout the day. And yes, it's okay to take out the floating dispenser while soaking in the tub.

Regarding tablets, there's a choice between bromine and chlorine. Both work well as a hot tub sanitizer. I recommend bromine because many people find it more gentle on the skin. However, you can't go wrong either way. Just make sure to use test strips to check the water regularly and make sure there is enough residual in the water.

I get a lot of questions about more natural options for hot tub water care. Mineraluxe is an incredible product. It helps keep the water clean, reduces the need for chemical sanitizers and helps the water feel fantastic against the skin. It's also really good for hot tubs that have had a history of biofilm issues because it helps prevent algae growth.

Saltwater hot tubs is another option for adding chlorine or bromine to the water and removes the need for a floating dispenser. We recently put up a short post about salt water tubs, so if your interested you can check it out here.
